A very fine scarce heavy example by J&Co (Jennens) bearing 1904 Birmingham hallmarks. High relief thistle wreath encircling two scrolls inscribed “Peninsula” and “Waterloo”. Between the scrolls, the Sphinx resting on “Egypt” plinth to voided centre. Stout pin with ornate hinge to reverse.

Scottish. 78th Highlanders (Ross-shire) Buffs Victorian Officer’s pre Cimea plaid brooch circa 1840-48.
A very fine scarce gilt quoit mounted with a silver crown thistle wreath with “78” to the centre. Mounted to the lower part of the quoit, a silver scroll inscribed “Cuidich’n’ RhI”. Stout pin to reverse replaced during its working life from vertical to horizontal. Usual minor wear commensurate with age.

A very fine rare example circa 1855-80. Flat nickel quoit fretted to leave seven connecting sections, each incised with a lined letter “I” “B” “M” “N” “M” “H” “L” “I”. Stout pin to reverse which bears engraved “B 3rd Cam Hrs No. 20”.
Became 3rd Battalion Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, 1st July, 1881.

Scottish. Gordon Highlanders Officer's 1936 hallmarked silver plaid brooch.
A very fine example by Wm. Anderson & Sons Ltd, bearing 1936 Edinburgh hallmarks. Burnished silver quoit mounted with an ivy wreath bearing the legend "Bydand" across the base, to the centre, the crest of the Marquis of Huntly (in relief, a stag's head with antlers, coronet below). Mounted on the quoit towards the outer rim, a long five part scroll inscribed "Peninsula, Egypt, Gordon Highlanders, India, Waterloo". Stout pin to reverse. VGC.
